Green Flag Award
The Green Flag Award is like a quality seal for gardens and parks. Since 1996, the "Keep Britain Tidy" association has been granting the “Green Flag Award” in Britain. In cooperation with the Gartennetz Deutschland e.V., the Green Flag has now become a seal of quality gardens and parks in Germany.
More than 1,000 green spaces in Britain have already received the Green Flag. Whether close to nature or formal, listed buildings or modern, the Green Flag is awarded based on the strictest criteria on the condition, care, and cleanliness of the facilities, accessibility, user-oriented services, catering facilities and toilets, playgrounds and sports facilities, and more.
An essential prerequisite for a "Green Flag Park" is successful park management with good marketing. Gaining the loyalty and interest of the community and the visitors to the park is also an important factor in receiving the award. In some particularly positive cases, the owners of the parks or the committed groups are eligible for the “Community Award”.
The Green Flag awards have been given in Germany already in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
